Shirley Chen

"Shirley is the Founding Partner and Chairwoman of Yoshan Capital, formerly Chairwoman of China International Capital Corporation (“CICC”) Private Equity. She has over 20 years’ experience in private equity and investment banking. In 2019, she founded Youshan Capital which manages over RMB 13 billion, investing in technology, renewable energy and healthcare. Youshan Capital were awarded “Top 10 Most Promising Private Equity Funds” in China in 2020 and 2021. In 2007, Shirley established CICC's private equity business which has grown to AUM of USD 80 billion. Its first PE fund of Rmb 5 billion generated best return ranked by the National Social Security Fund. In 2016, she set up a RMB 40 billion National Emerging Industries Fund which invested in around 200 VC funds in China. Prior to that, Shirley was a Managing Director at CICC and a Director at CSFB IBD where she led over USD 20 billion of M&A, equity and debt transactions. Shirley has been awarded as ""China's Top 10 Private Equity Investors"" in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016, “2022 Top 100 Best Private Equity Investors”, “2020 Top10 Figures in Chinese Investment Institutions-Annual Female Representative” and ""2022-2023 Most Influential Female Investors”. Shirley holds a MBA from Yale SOM, a Master of International Economic Law and a Bachelor of International Law from Wuhan University. She also serves as an Investment Committee Member of National Science and Technology Fund and sits on the Greater China Advisory Board of Yale SOM."
