Lieping Chen

Dr. Lieping Chen is UTC Chair Professor in Cancer Research, Professor of Immunobiology and Medicine (Medical Oncology) at Yale School of Medicine. His research interests are basic T cell biology, cancer immunology and development of innovative medicine for treating human diseases. He has published over 380 research articles and is the principal inventor on over 40 US patents. His work in the discovery of the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway in cancer immunotherapy was cited as the #1 breakthrough of the years by Science magazine 2013. His honors and awards include William B. Coley Award, AAI-Steinman Award, Giants of Cancer Care Award and Warren Alpert Foundation Prize. He is a member of US National Academy of Sciences.
